The WMG stationary roll measuring system is placed on the carriage of the grinding machine or, depending on the machine, mounted opposite the grinding wheel. This lets you measure rolls, cylinders and rollers with a diameter from 100 to 2,600 mm easily and accurately. Depending on the version, the measurement is automatically included in the grinding process: this shortens grinding time and simplifies grinding considerably.

Automatic correction

The measurement data go to the grinding control and are used for automatic correction.

Collision protection

In a collision, the measuring assembly (WMG Swivel-Safe) swings away; every measuring arm is protected this way. Vulnerable parts can be given extra protection with a 3D switch.

Rugged and accurate

Accurate guides and positioning of the measuring arms, in a very rugged, stable construction.

Swing-away measuring unit

The measuring cassette is mounted on a rotating column and swings away, protected against damage.

Variants

Online (type 1): measuring during grinding

The roll is measured during the grinding process. The measured profile goes to the control of the grinding machine, which corrects the deviation from the target profile in the next grinding pass. Also with crack detection and side-shift.

Offline (type 2): measuring after and between grinding cycles

Suitable for all roll grinding machines, up to 2,600 mm diameter. Beam and measuring arm are made of carbon fibre, to keep deflection and dead weight low.
